Red Bud Resident Celebrates 102nd Birthday!

Ella May Gross celebrated her 102nd birthday last Saturday, May 5th, at Garden Place of Red Bud!

Born in 1910, Ella May grew up on a farm north of Walsh, Ill. where she worked as a teacher and farm wife. She raised one son, Albert, and has two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. One of her favorite past hobbies was helping others trace their family trees with genealogy.

At Garden Place of Red Bud, Ella May enjoys visiting with friends and other residents. Last Saturday, they celebrated her milestone birthday with cake, ice cream and a party in the dining area. Her favorite talk show, The T-Bone Morning Show on 1230AM WHCO, announced her birthday on-air and sent well wishes.

While Ella May knows her age is significant, she says she, “has no advice to offer on how to live to 102!”

Waterloo Covers More Ground

Have you visited the construction site for our Waterloo community lately? It was just two weeks ago that we had our ground breaking ceremony and things keep progressing!

This week we found the concrete frames being laid for the apartment foundations. And as you can see, the builders were hard at work while we came for a visit!

Join Our Senior Activity Club

At Garden Place, we focus on helping our residents maintain an independent lifestyle. Even with our assisted living seniors, we aim to keep them involved in community activities, maintain hobbies and continue to build relationships with peers. Through our daily sittercise, mindercise, games and other activities, we focus on these goals. However, to make sure our senior residents are having as much fun as possible, each community makes one day trip per week. Our residents usually choose to go out for lunch and breakfast at local restaurants.

Did you know that we love to have non-resident seniors join us on these trips? Your senior loved-one is welcome to come out to lunch or breakfast with us through our Adult Day Club program. It’s a great opportunity for him or her to make new friends and stay active. Of course, if your senior would like to visit our communities for our daily games or exercises, he or she is welcome to do that as well. Our certified professional staff members ensure that all of our activities are safe for seniors, so you don’t have to worry while your senior loved-one is with us.

We’d love to have your senior join us! Check out our calendars to see what we have planned for the month of April, and contact one of our communities to learn more!

Giffhorn has more than 12 years of senior care experience and is eager to join Garden Place.

“I am dedicated to providing quality care to the seniors in my care. I was born and raised in Hecker, and I feel providing senior services to our hometown residents is of great importance.
